As we roll into to the new year, VideoBloom has been pondering what 2010 will bring to the world of online video. We have a few additions of our own, but we’re not telling just yet. Not surprisingly, VideoBloom is not alone in this pondering and some such as eMarketer have gone as far as publishing a collection of their predictions.
Among their predictions for 2010 is a continued and expanded convergence of digital video in the home. Existing technologies for bringing the Internet to the TV screen, such as Boxee, will improve and gain more traction while new technologies like TVs built with direct Internet connectivity will further erode the barrier between TV and the Internet.
What does this all mean for you and your organization? With easier and more convenient access to the Internet, more people will be spending more time online. If you’re playing your cards right, this will also mean more people on your Web site. To do this, you will have to cater to this new form of exposure. Someone isn’t going to utilize their beautiful new widescreen TV to read endless pages of text on the Web; they want video and they want lots of it. Adding or expanding video on your site will engage the users of your site (those on computers and those using their TVs) and serve as a quick and easy way to deliver your marketing message.
